Ideas for Professionally Photographed Business Cards
53
You have spent a lot of time and effort coming up with beautiful or unique business cards, so take the time to showcase your work in the best possible way. Below are some tips for making your photographed business cards look as good as possible.
Use a Background that Makes Your Card Pop
The background you use should compliment your card and show it off. Whatever you do, do not just take a picture of your card lying flat on a scuffed up workspace. A solid black background can really make colored cards pop.
For more simple-styled business card printing, you can add interest by including elements in the background that relate to the subject of the card, like flowers for a card designed for a florist's shop; just make sure the card is prominent in the picture.
Focus Your Camera So the Texture Shows
If you designed business cards with a cool texture, show it off by focusing your camera really close. You will probably have to play around with angles and lighting to get it to really show up. Then people will be able to appreciate those extra touches you put into your card design.
Try Several Different Positions
You do not have to take a picture of your card lying flat with the camera directly above. For added interest, you can position the card sitting up, even at an angle. Experiment with several different positions, taking pictures of each, to find a position that is dynamic.
Experiment with Lighting
Lighting can make or break a photo. Experiment with different levels of light to find what makes your card look the best. Try different sources of indoor light, experiment with flashes, and see how your card looks with outdoor light.
Make Sure Your Card is in Focus
Blurry photographs are frustrating to look at and do not really do their job of showcasing your work. Make sure the important part of your card is in focus so that it can be read. The one exception to this is to blur the background for placing the focus on your business cards rather than the background.
